Historic. From the 1930's until 1944, the area was used by the Archipelago Civilian guard (Skyddskåren) and the Finnish Women's Voluntary Defense Service (Lottornas), for exercise and education. Most of the building from that period still remain. In 1938, the Civil Guard of the archipelago erected a monument in memory of the fight for freedom, which took place in the archipelago of Turku in 1918.

This is a very unique monument and well worth visiting. 2008 marks the 70th jubilee year of the monument. We will be celebrating with exhibitions and parties. Our restaurant invites you to dine on local and international delicacy. The year's theme is to recognize those great men and woman of the Civilian Guard and Finnish Women's Voluntary Defense Service.
